Setting up production time slots

How to organize production by time slot in your restaurant ?

Updated this week

Access: Administration Module >> Locations >> Production Time Slots

1/ Understanding the role of production time slots

Production time slots allow you to divide a day’s production into multiple periods (e.g., morning, lunch, afternoon).

They are used to:

  • refine production forecasts

  • organize team shifts

  • track production and stock by time slot

💡 By default, each restaurant has a single invisible time slot representing the full day.

2/ Checking required permissions

To create or modify production time slots, you must have:

  • the Manage Locations permission

  • the Configure Production Time Slots permission

💡 Once enabled, a Time Slots tab appears in the location’s administration.

3/ Creating production time slots

From Administration >> Location >> Time Slots:

  1. Open the Time Slots tab

  2. Add at least 2 time slots

  3. For each time slot, enter:

    • a name (e.g., Morning, Lunch, Evening)

    • the start and end times

⚠️ Time slots cannot overlap. Overlapping times will prevent saving.

4/ Understanding the default distribution

Once time slots are created:

  • production is automatically and equally distributed across all time slots

💡 Example:

  • 2 time slots = 50% / 50%

  • 3 time slots = 33% / 33% / 33%

Tip: To concentrate all production in a single slot, set 100% on the first time slot of the day.

5/ Modifying an existing time slot

You can at any time:

  • change the name of a time slot

  • adjust its hours

💡 These changes do not affect:

  • existing production plans

  • previously calculated forecasts

6/ Adding or deleting a time slot

Adding a time slot

  • The distribution of existing products remains unchanged

  • The new slot starts with 0% allocation

Deleting a time slot
⚠️ This action has significant consequences:

  • production allocation for all remaining slots is reset

  • production is evenly distributed among remaining slots

  • all future forecasts, stock entries, and production data for the next 15 days are reset

💡 Past data is preserved. Old time slots remain visible for past dates with associated data.

7/ Setting production distribution by time slot

To modify production distribution for products, you must:

  • manage the location

  • have the Modify Production Distribution permission

Manually modifying distribution

  1. Go to the production distribution table

  2. Click the cell for the relevant time slot

  3. Enter the desired percentages

💡 Changes are only saved when the total reaches 100%. Otherwise, changes are not saved.

Bulk modifying distribution

  1. Select one or more products

  2. Click Actions

  3. Enter a distribution by time slot

⚠️ This replaces any existing custom distribution for the selected products.

8/ Special cases to know

  • Removing a product from the assortment also deletes its time slot distribution

  • Duplicating another restaurant’s assortment:

    • replaces the existing assortment

    • resets time slot distribution

  • Adding a new product to the assortment:

    • automatically receives an equal distribution across time slots

⚠️ Impact on forecasts
Modifying a product’s production distribution:

  • affects future forecasts for up to 15 days

  • resets both admin and operator forecasts

  • does not modify past data

⚠️ Key takeaways

  • Time slots structure all production planning

  • Any deletion must be done with caution

  • Changes only affect future data, never historical data
